PMC’s Design Objective
Indizium was chosen to build an advanced Telemedicine Command Control Centre, which will be connected to all the smart operating suites. The PCMC leadership team envisioned the new digital OR to include advanced digital and communication capabilities (i.e. digital video capture, digital print and videoconferencing) yet be simple enough for the surgical staff to easily set-up and control. Prince Court turned to the us to undertake the design, building and maintenance of the entire smart surgical suite and telehealth infrastructure in the hospital.

Client’s Profile
The Prince Court Medical Center is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is another showpiece project funded by Petronas, Malaysia’s national petroleum corporation. It will be one of the largest private hospitals in the Klang Valley and the surrounding area. In addition to the highest-quality medical care, future patients will also be able to take advantage of the atmosphere and service of a 5-star hotel.
The medical spectrum at PCMC will cover all the specialized medical fields, with bundled expertise offered in 5 “Centers of Excellence” (CoEs):
- Heart and Vascular Center
- Oncological Center
- Mother and Child Center
- Center for Cosmetic Surgery, Dermatology and Burn Victims
- Center for Urology, Nephrology and Men’s Health This structure is reflected in both inpatient as well as out-patient care.
The Challenges
The operating suites had limited floor space and was not configured to accommodate the supporting audio-visual (A/V) equipment and IT equipment
Our Solution
Indizium commissioned a state-of-the-art Audio Visual and Telemedicine (AVT) centre. The AVT centre involved the setting up of a Command Control Centre (CCC), linking it to various centres of excellence around the world, the 10 operation theatres within the Hospital as well as link ups to the Teleconsultation Room, Training Room, Visitors Lounge and the nearby Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The AVT centre consists of the following interconnected areas:
TELEMEDICINE COMMAND CONTROL CENTRE
As the hub for the entire AVT centre, all video, audio and telecommunication networks will converge here. It will also have capabilities to monitor and control activities and equipments in other parts of the centre. The Auditorium will function as a start of the art conference centre where major medical related meetings, conferences and video conferencing sessions can be held.
SMART SURGICAL SUITES
These Smart Surgical Suites will act as digital operating suites capable of cutting-edge, minimally-invasive robotic surgery, audio, videoconferencing and digital imaging and video display, under Indizium’s proprietary Smart Operating Control System. SOCS brings voice, video and data to a centralized point where they can be controlled and routed using a touch panel interface. In addition, all video, audio and data can also be routed to remote locations for teleconsultation or distance learning purposes.
